Richard D. Zeph M.D., F.A.C.S.

An experienced, double board certified specialist.

In 1975, Dr. Zeph received an undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Indiana University. After obtaining his Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1979, he completed two years of training in general surgery at Loyola University Hospital in Chicago. He spent three years as a resident in Head and Neck Surgery at the Indiana University Medical Center, and completed an additional year of fellowship training in facial plastic surgery in Portland, Oregon and New Orleans, Louisiana through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

In 1985, Dr. Zeph received his board certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery. He also accepted an academic appointment at the Indiana University School of Medicine as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery, a position he still holds. In 1992, he received his board certification for the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Zeph is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery, the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He maintains surgical privileges at Indiana University Health, St. Vincent, and Riverview hospitals. In a survey of his peers conducted by Indianapolis Monthly Magazine, he was named one of the top doctors in Indianapolis for rhinoplasty (nasal surgery). He has taught other physicians and has spoken at numerous professional association meetings, classes and symposiums across the United States and Canada.

    Val is a native of Indiana and is married with one son. She joined Zeph Cosmetic Surgery in May of 1989 starting as a receptionist and working her way up to Medical Office Assistant. 

    If you are a patient of Dr. Zeph’s, then you know that she brings a high level of energy to our office. She assists Dr. Zeph in the rooms during patient visits, fillers, and injectables. Val is also a trained Coolsculpting technician and provides assessments and treatments to our patients. She assists with patient care and collaborates with the office to maintain an efficient office flow. Val is readily available to assist patients at any time, and happy to answer questions regarding procedures and post-operative care.

    She strives to make every patient’s experience the best it can be.

    Jan was raised in New Jersey, but now calls Indiana home. She joined Zeph Cosmetic Surgery in February 1993. If you are currently a patient of Dr. Zeph’s, then you have already met her and know her well. Jan is our surgery scheduler and can answer any question that comes her way regarding the logistics of surgery. Her expertise in insurance verification, pre-certification, and deductibles makes her a valuable addition to our team. She also has experience as a marketing and sales coordinator and helps the office function efficiently. Jan is a trained Coolsculpting technician and provides assessments and treatments to our patients. Rest assured that she will go out of her way to make your experience as easy and pleasant as possible.
